satiated, replenished souls

Our Pastor kindly visited again tonight. These few thoughts endure in my mind:
The more we talk to people the more we realise how life is speckled with sadnesses as a forest is with trees. We glide along amongst them, mostly avoiding but at some point we will be confronted with one or more head on. If we appear 'strong', it may just be that we'd rather not 'overflow' and make a scene. In this circumstance it is perfectly natural to feel sad, indeed, it is the context for God's Word and Presence to comfort and strengthen our hearts.
For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.
Jeremiah 31:25
Also, as Paul said, 'For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.' (Romans 8:18) This is the kind of positive thinking I take to best - ie. because it has some foundation to it.
Pads has finally stopped steroids now so now we can think about weaning him off the continual sweeties and vast meals too! He's been in good form today - very easy to get him giggling which is delightful. He was asking a bit more about the lumbar puncture, happens on Thursday. This is to check whether his spinal fluid has any mobile cancer cells waiting to start a tumour. The results of this will further aid the ensuing treatments, including choosing the best Port-a-cath method, to administer the chemo over the coming year. Both will require a general anaesthetic. He seemed to grasp it as I heard him explaining this to someone else later on.
