Ally went to our first LATCH support group last night and found it very helpful and amazing. Pads' oncologist was there giving a talk which included a discussion of why they give chemo into the bloodstream when there is a 'blood-brain barrier'. The answer was that some does get through. Pads is on the 'Packer protocol' which was developed in the last 5 years when it was found to hugely improve survival rates from 50% to 85%. Ally says it was worth going to just hear that but she also met some amazing parents who are quite a way down the road with this kind of illness.
I am on standby right now because Ally and all the boys (including Moses) are walking to School so I may have to dash out and rescue Pads but it was brave of him to be willing to make the trip. Before that he had had a decent bowl of oats and raisens fed to him between bouts of intergalactic warfare via StarWars Lego on the DS :-)
PS - He's back from the walk without any ill effects.
