Florida - Week 2b

Pads wanted to see the consultant yesterday so Ally took him in and she agreed to raise his amitriptyline to 50mg and his slow-release morphine (MST) to 15mg twice a day.
It was great to have a visit from Grandad and Grandma today - we really enjoyed catching up over homemade soup, cheese and a good blowy walk around Heath Park. It feels like a very long time ago now, but reviewing the Florida photos reminded me that I still have not written about the end of the 2nd week of that adventure...
On Saturday we moved on from the Best Western Buena Vista Hotel to our villa in Kissimmie.

This is a Christian Lewis Trust house that families use as part of a holiday, as it's still not far from the theme parks, or to use as a base when children need to be treated in Florida. Before arriving, we needed to check out another American culinary institution: Denny's, where we ate pancakes galore, including pancake mixture balls called 'puppies'. Having dropped off our luggage at the villa, we moved on to make the most of the day at Gatorland. That was great fun, watching the keepers handle and feed these terrible lizards! The weather was pepping up quite a bit too!

On Sunday we were back at the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Lake Sherwood, only this time we didnt have to leave, but greatly appreciated hot food and warm fellowship with the Lims. It was great to relax at their home and talk about the things of God.
On Monday, we went to Sea World. We got to see many of the impressive shows. The rides at Sea World are as intense as anything in Florida, the Kraken and Manta... With no need to que, my head was starting to throb badly enough that I left the three kids to have last goes on those two.
Tuesday was our last full day and we took it easy. Pads had left his camera at the church so we arranged to meet up with Pastor Lim while the ladies went off on a shopping trip. He insisted on buying us lunch at Chipotles, a really excellent fast food Mexican eatery.
In the evening we went to Planet Hollywood, courtesy of Christian Lewis Trust (again!). It is a huge globe-shaped restaurant in 'Down-town Disney' crammed with all manner of authentic film memorabilia. After that we went for a stroll on to 'Pleasure Island' to pick up some souvenirs.
Wednesday was mostly about packing and leaving, but we did enjoy some window shopping in the enormous 'Florida Mall', where the iPad 2 was selling out and the M+M's store had merchandised EVERYthing in honour of a small sugar-coated sweet! The smalls enjoyed finally spending some of their jealously guarded dollars on cuddly toys (astronaut teddies!) in the airport Kennedy Space Centre shop.
