The cloud lifted

Pads had another good day today - tonight he's out at a mate's birthday party, having suffered no ill effects of being out quite late last night. A lot of the family went on a trip to the National Memorial Arboretum, my grandfather having been a prisoner of war in a Japanese camp in Myanmar. That part of the war is given particularly good coverage at the Arboretum, with its own building housing an exhibition and outside there are some rail tracks from the actual railway-lines constructed by forced labour under the Japanese.
After that, I wanted to do something more geared to little boys so we headed off to the Museum of Childhood on our National Trust membership - highly recommended.
