signing his life away

So I've consented to the treatment - really had no choice. The chances of the tumour coming back are very high or certain. Earlier he had been fantastic at keeping still while trapped in the mask/shell for the simulator CT scan. They're lining up his scull and spine (first phase), with a boost later on to the area of the tumour (second phase). It was interesting watching the x-ray images, we saw several staples in the site of the operation which, we were told, are left there by the surgeons to guide the radiographers.
The consultant spent a generous amount of time with us explaining side-effects, etc. P was thrashing away at his DS most of the time, but he did pick up one or two things. We can pray that the side effects will not be too severe. Have reassured Pads that the side effects will not be all bad. Combined with the growth hormone (because he may lose a inch or two from his spine, it is intended to assist him to keep a 'normal' height) this may well mean slightly longer fingers, legs and toes, so, coupled with baldness, and this hair migrating to his feet, he will finally realise a lifelong goal to do a decent impression of Gollum! Added to this, an acute sharpening of the top of his scull will enable him to detect all manner of things, like passing planes and satelites, wi-fi hotspots, etc.
The belly-laughs this kind of thing produces are priceless :-)
